The largest and most innovative museum in the world dedicated to the genius of Federico Fellini and his poetic legacy, as well as his artistic and visual references to the art of all times. This is the International Federico Fellini Museum, a museum that does not intend to interpret Fellini's cinema as a finished work to be paid homage to, but as the key to "everything is imagined", the possibility of linking past and present, classical and contemporary art, capable of giving back everything that cinema has sought to be since its origin and that Fellini's films express in the most complete way: amazement, fantasy, spectacle, fun.
The Museum will be divided into three sections. Sismondo Castle, the 15th century fortress that Filippo Brunelleschi contributed to building; Palazzo Valloni, a recently restored 18th century building, whose ground floor houses the legendary Fulgor cinema immortalised in Amarcord; and the third and last section consisting of a large urban area, a real Piazza dei Sogni (the square of dreams) which, through a path of Fellini's installations, will act not only as a connective tissue but also as a creative 'fil rouge' between these two buildings of extraordinary architectural and symbolic value, to become a visual and interactive experience that characterises the spaces of daily relations for residents and guests.
Thanks to the contribution of large public and private national audiovisual archives and of almost all the producers and rights holders of Fellini's feature films, in the Fellini Museum it will be possible to see films, documentaries, interviews, scripts, scores, costumes and props, as well as the master's drawings and technological solutions designed to involve the senses and the mind.
THE PROJECT
The Fellini Museum project is part of a broader action of infrastructural renewal and enhancement of the cultural and architectural heritage of the city and its historic center, which brings to fruition an overall strategy of city enhancement that is redesigning its image and future.
Through an international call for bids, the Municipality of Rimini has entrusted a grouping of companies led by Lumiére & Co and including Studio Azzurro, with the conception of the entire layout of Castel Sismondo and Palazzo del Fulgor, which is characterized by an immersive multimedia installation project with a strong participatory value for the visitor, who is often called into question by the narrative solutions devised for the itinerary, curated by Marco Bertozzi and Anna Villari.
The Fellini Museum is realized thanks to the participation of almost all the producers of Fellini's films and the current holders of the exploitation rights: from RTI - Gruppo Mediaset to Titanus, from Pea Films Inc to Cristaldi Film, from Rai Cinema to Istituto Luce / Cinecittà, from Gaumont to Lyric Productions to Compagnia Leone Cinematografica, as well as thanks to the involvement of the main national audiovisual archives: from the Teche Rai to the Historical Archives of the Istituto Luce, from the Fondation Fellini pour le Cinèma in Sion to the Tonino Guerra Association, from the Barilla Historical Archives to the National Archives of Business Cinema and the Photographic Archives of the Experimental Center of Cinematography Foundation, from the Cineteca Foundation of Bologna to Cinemazero in Pordenone, from Reporters Associates & Archives to the Mimmo Cattarinich Cultural Association to the Maraldi Archives.
